Save Our Girls

Protests have erupted on the streets of the Indian city of New Delhi after reports that a 5-year-old girl was kidnapped and brutally raped and tortured by her neighbor. The girl was found locked in a room two days after she went missing from the yard of her family’s home. Her 22-year-old neighbour Manoj Kumar has since been arrested.

A doctor looking after the young girl said: “Her blood pressure was low. She had fever and our medical examination revealed she had superficial injuries on her lips, cheeks, chest wall, arms, and on her neck. She had some deep bruises as if somebody had tried to throttle or strangulate her.”

  1. Geezus! Enough is enough already with these incidents there! 😦

  2. Reblogged this on My story to you.. and commented:
When does it become too much? How long before the governing bodies ACTUALLY do something about this? Clearly ethics and humanity is no longer part of the regular life to some.

  3. This is a big reason I want to do something for girl’s rights. This is such an outrage. It is so sad.

  4. This makes me ill just thinking about it. What is wrong with people that drives them to such heinous acts?

  5. There is a light to this… the fact that people are protesting instead of sliding it under the carpet shows that things are changing, and people are less willing to turn a blind eye.
The fact that these sickos are still out there is scary but at least people are being more vigilant to get them off the streets.
    Thank you for posting this.

  6. I just can’t click like on this one. Doesn’t feel right. Sick sick sick!!! So sorry for that little girl. Going to try to send her some good thoughts.

  7. What is wrong with the society that let this happen!!!

    • I cannot understand it, this is India, an ancient culture with the oldest existing religion that has declined to a society that does not protect its vulnerable. It is time for Indian men to change the social attitude about the female sex. 😦

  8. There is a sick mentality epidemic going on that they prey on the young children. I read this on today’s paper, Ela.

  9. What’s happening is horrifying and shameful.

  10. So sad and heart wrenching when I think of the little one.

  11. I’ve been coming across these sad horrific stories more and more frequently, it genuinely makes me fear for the future. How this can still be happening in so many countries across the world is just dumbfounding.
