Sir Charles Spencer “Charlie” Chaplin, KBE was an English comedian actor and film director. Chaplin became one of the most famous actors as well as a notable filmmaker, composer and musician in the early to mid Classical Hollywood era of American cinema. He was famous also for his great sense of humor and slapstick comedy skills.

  2. one of my favorite songs was written by Mr. Chaplin – he actually wrote the music and another wrote the lyrics (two I think). i love it. called ‘Smile’ . If you go on youtube and input Nat King Cole Smile you can listen to a truly ‘unforgettable’ voice sing an absolutely beautiful song:)

  3. Interesting that Chaplin is described as English, when Americans think of him as quintessentially American.

    • He was born in England, celebrities are claimed by many. We think of the Bee Gees as aussies – they were born in England and no doubt, became Australian citizens. πŸ™‚
